Lesson 07
AWS Marketplace
Digital catalog for third-party software, AMIs, and SaaS solutions
For support plan selection and the AWS Partner Network, see the Support Resources lesson. For Trusted Advisor, see the Reliability & Trusted Advisor lesson.
AWS Marketplace
The AWS Marketplace is a digital catalog with thousands of software listings from independent software vendors. You can find, test, buy, and deploy software that runs on AWS.
What You Can Find
- Pre-configured AMIs: Launch EC2 instances with operating systems and software pre-installed — databases, security appliances, analytics tools, developer stacks.
- SaaS subscriptions: Subscribe to software-as-a-service products that integrate with your AWS account.
- Professional services: Find consulting partners to help plan, migrate, or optimize.
Key Benefits
- Single bill: Marketplace charges appear on your AWS bill — no separate vendor invoices.
- Quick start: Pre-built AMIs get you running faster than building from scratch.
- Flexible pricing: Hourly, monthly, annual, and Bring-Your-Own-License (BYOL) options.
- Vetted: AWS reviews AMIs for security before listing, though community AMIs carry your-own-risk.
Exam Tip: Marketplace AMIs are a valid answer when the question asks about "pre-configured third-party software" or "quickly deploying vendor solutions." Don't confuse with Quick Start AMIs (AWS-provided Linux/Windows) or Community AMIs (user-submitted, not vetted by AWS).
